Whither the Reapportionment Data?

Lost in the bread and circuses of last week was the Commerce Department's statement that they could not meet a December 31st deadline for providing the census data necessary for the next reapportionment. The Supreme Court recently dismissed a challenge to the data collection process (in other words, counting the people who are in the United States illegally) as, in part, unripe. I strongly suspect that the census data will not be "ready" until January 21st. Then the issues raised in Trump v. New York will be moot, as the Biden Administration will not exclude people who are in the United States illegally from the reapportionment calculations. If my suspicion proves correct, then I'm sure we'll eventually learn an interesting backstory into the timing of the data's collection and analysis.
