The American Constitution Society, the Williams
Institute, UCLA School of Law, the Yale Information Society Project, and the
Program for the Study of Reproductive Justice announce the upcoming
co-sponsored conference, Liberty/Equality:
The View from Roe’s 40th and Lawrence’s 10th
Anniversaries, to take place January 18-19, 2013, at the UCLA School of
Law. (Information about registration is available here.) This conference is the fourth in a series of academic events in the Constitution in 2020 project.
As we commemorate the anniversaries
of two landmark Supreme Court decisions, Roe
and Lawrence, the conference will
bring together leading experts on gender and sexuality to analyze the past,
situate current conflicts, and contemplate the future.
During the next week and a half, participants in the conference will be posting commentary here on Balkinization.
