Symposium on Contraception and Conscience: Videos and Resources
John Mikhail
Last month, Georgetown Law and the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace & World Affairs hosted a terrific symposium on some of the legal, medical, theological, and other issues raised by the Obama Administration’s policies on contraceptive coverage under the Affordable Care Act and the legal challenges they have encountered. The event was organized by my colleague and co-blogger, Marty Lederman, and it brought together a stellar lineup of experts in law, religion, and public policy. Videos from the conference together with a wealth of background materials can be found on this web site, which will be updated periodically as these lawsuits make their way through the courts. Particularly in light of last night’s discussion of Catholicism, abortion, contraception, and related topics in the vice-presidential debate between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan, readers may be interested in visiting this site and taking advantage of these resources. The level of analysis offered by the symposium participants is superb, and Marty deserves thanks and praise for convening such a diverse and well-informed group of commentators. Posted

Comments:
I appreciate the material and I'm sure there is some good stuff there. It still sort of amazes me that contraceptives is the line in the sand.
One question that arises, I just put it out there, is Medicaid funding. The employers in question here I would think would have to somehow contribute to the fund.
But, abortion, not just contraceptives, is funded by state and federal Medicaid funding in various ways. Even some conservative states allow it in cases where certain religions would oppose it.
Anyway, thanks again for the material and I will try to watch some of it eventually.
